cervix closer to vaginal opening than before

I'm really concerned about this. Several months ago I was barely able to reach the edge of my cervix with my longest finger but now it only takes like half of a fingerlength to reach the center of it. My nuvaring isn't fitting right because my vaginal canal has gotten so short and it even sticks out a little bit at times. The inside of me seems almost swollen.
Is this something to be concerned about? I know the uterus can change positions but I've never had this happen to such an extent. It's really worrying me.

The cervix will move also. If it's scared, it will retreat higher up. It's a funny thing. Not sure how you could avoid this problem but it is normal for it to move around.

Yeah, and usually during my periods it's much closer to my vaginal opening than any other time in the month, which is handy since I have to check my IUD strings ones a month!

Honestly, OP, if you're concerned, you should go see your gyno. Maybe it's an allergic reaction with your nuva ring, or some sort of irritation. But if you feel uncomfortable and you're unable to use your ring effectively I would talk to your gyno, or your general practitioner.

My cervix sometimes does things like that -- ie, being so close to my vaginal opening that it's almost sticking out, usually when I'm on my period. (Which is very inconvenient as I like to use a DivaCup when possible -- sometimes my cervix is in the way!) I don't think this is abnormal in itself, but since it's a big change since you started on the nuva ring it's probably worth it to call the doctor who gave you the ring and check in. Maybe it's a hormones thing? I am curious about this now!

I have noticed it happens closer to my period, and maybe I only noticed it happening when I got my nuvaring because there was actually something that made me able to feel the difference.
I just thought I'd make sure because I didn't notice it being swollen or anything until the past couple months and I've had my nuvaring for over 6 now.
ah, I'm probably just being a hypochondriac. haha

I think it's totally normal. Right before my period my cervix sits really low and sometimes it pushes my nuvaring down and out a bit. Usually when I sleep... I just re-adjust it when I'm lying on my back and tuck it underneath my cervic (between my cervix and vagina wall, right against the back). It does make it a bit more difficult to take out, but it stays in place perfectly.

Right after my period my cervix sits really high. A few weeks ago it was so high up my doctor could not reach it for a swab and I had to come back a week later.

But, I your are worried about it, just get it checked out.

Sorry... I meant: If you are worried...

Also, not to sound gross here, but if you also have stuff in your bowels, it can push the Nuva Ring out of its normal position.

When you say it was further up several months ago, do you mean that you were checking it consistently (multiple times per cycle) and it was consistently higher up?? If so, you might want to have your doctor check things out. It is true though that its totally normal to need only half a fingers length to reach your cervix, and also totally normal for the ring to barely fit/poke out a little. Since its not normal for YOU, I might get checked out, but in general, it is a normal thing.
