Ravenous hunger at ovulation

I think I'm probably ovulating because I'm really irritable and absolutely ravenous. As in, I've just eaten a whole Domino's pizza (large) and am *still* hungry. I normally get quite hungry but never like this!
Now, the hunger usually doesn't bother me that much but I'm also trying to lose weight. Is there anything that I can take to suppress it. I know it'll pass in a couple of days, but at the same time it's getting annoying. And takeout pizzas are really expensive!

I have to deal with ravenous hunger during ovulation, too. :( I try to stock up on stuff like salad and veggies, and absolutely go to town on those. Even if they never fill me up, I still get the satisfaction of stuffing my face as much as I want, and the calorie count will be quite low. I can then have smaller samples of the foods I'm craving. (One piece of pizza, or half a chocolate bar, or a small serving of ice cream, etc.)

It doesn't quite give the same satisfaction of gorging oneself on salty, fatty, sweet foods, but it's a compromise that my body seemed to accept.

Good luck!

Tea/Coffee, both of those make me feel not hungry.

Ooooh. That might explain why I'm never hungry at work! Thanks for that - I'll go grab me a cup now!

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who gets insanely hungry (large pizza, done that. Eaten a thing of hamburger helper by myself, done that. pint of ice cream, yup.).

Tea seems to help me as well.

Oh my gosh, me too! I thought I was so alone.

When I lived with my roomies, I was the smallest on there and no one believed how much I could eat. Large pizza, pint of icecream, burritos, etc. etc. And we're talkin' in a small amount of time - if not ONE DAY.

Tea&Coffee = Love.

i like chewing on ice. i have really tiny ice cube trays that make like 50 mini ice cubes at a time. they are perfectly bite size. you could alsso take regular ice cubes and but them in a plastic bag and smash them with something heavy.
this usually cures my hunger when i know i shouldnt be hungry

Flavored rice cakes or soy crisps. I used to get super-hungry before my period, and having things like cheddar cheese-flavored mini rice cakes or cinnamon or ranch soy crisps helped a lot, they felt like junk food and come in tons of flavors but they're pretty low-calorie, so even if you eat a ton of them, it's much better than eating a whole pizza or whole bag of regular potato chips. They're not all that filling, but they're yummy, and when I feel satisfied taste-wise I tend to be able to stop eating more easily. :)

I wouldn't do this unless you're absolutely 100% sure you're getting enough nutrients, because generally hunger is a good, useful thing!

That said, I've found (quite accidentally) that fiber supplementation suppresses my appetite. I used Benefiber powder or pills (the powder is tasteless) and it made me feel so full I skipped meals while I was taking it.

Drink LOOOOTS of water. It'll trick your stomach into thinking you're full. :)

And chow down on veggies and low-fat dip: they're very healthy and are fairly safe to overeat on. :D

When I've got the period munchies (although this has decreased dramatically since I've been on HBC) I tend to go for what I want, but a healthier version. I usually crave protein and salt, so instead of eating an entire log of salami, I'll do some turkey jerky or something. Crunchy veggies with some kinda tasty dip. I'll scarf the hell out of buckets of hummus with celery like a spoon!

I get the ravenous hunger also and it like a pig, it funny when I amaze my guy freinds with how much I can eat and still be hungy afterwards.
