clitoral hood piercing! yippee!

After about a week of discussion about piercings with my boyfriend, I have decided to get a clitoral hood piercing. I went with him yesterday to get his nipples pierced which ended up being extremely sexy, although left him in quite a bit of pain. We decided to do that when we did because he is going out of state for 2 weeks so we won't be able to be physical with each other at all, thus giving his nipples some time to heal before we go at it again.

SO, I'd like some input from you wonderful folks about the hood piercing. I'm thinking I'll get a vertical piercing, as that's most common and also said to be the most sexually stimulating. Do any of you have a vertical or horizontal hood piercing and if you do, what do you think about it? Which would you recommend, vertical or horizontal? Did it hurt? Is it actually more stimulating than no piercing? Any complications? Is it difficult to care for?

And most of all, what was the healing time? I only get to see my boyfriend once a week as it is, so we get right down to the dirty when we do see each other. He'll be gone for another 2 weeks so I'll probably wait to do it until he gets back as he really wants to see me get it done. I would just like to know how long it will be before we can get back to the good stuff.

Any insight would be much appreciated!

I went vertical. It looked nice, hurt a bit. You can read about the whole experience if you want.

There weren't any major complications, aftercare was a breeze, and I was having sex a week later (gently of course).

Stimulating? I actually took it out after 3 or 4 months because I thought it seemed to be migrating out a bit, and found that it actually got in the way during sex.

my experience was similar. It hurt me like hell when it happened, the pain didn't last long at all, the healing was super fast, was masturbating after a week (gently) and I also took mine out (within a year) as it got in the way and actually hurt when I used a clit stimulator (my fav method of orgasm) as the stimulator and the piercing would together pinch the very thin hood skin in between.

I had a vertical hood piercing. It only stung for a second while being pierced, and didn't hurt at all afterward. I pretty much left it alone as far as after care went, and was self loving again in a week (I tried it a few days after and it hurt a LOT, I recommend waiting until it doesn't feel uncomfortable to touch it, probably a week - week and a half).
I didn't have sex with anyone, as I was single so I can't say anything about how it was with other people, but there was one thing: it changed the kind of orgasms I had. Not for better or worse, they were just different.
I ended up taking mine out, but I forget why. I don't have any of my piercings anymore, though.

I've got a vertical hood, and it healed much faster than anything else. I was playing with it, albeit carefully, about 5 days later. It didn't really change anything, though it does tend to get in the way on occasion.

I'd advise you to check out the memories at bodymods, and check out the info page before you post anything.

Oh, and his nipples are going to need WAY more than two weeks to go by before they get played with; nipples take a long time to heal, and they usually advise a good six MONTHS before jewelry is changed.

Seconding the "wait a while" advice on his nipples - I've had mine done for 7 years now and they took easily about 6 months to heal, and even then I took one out after 5 years because it would get "angry" feeling if I even looked at it weird. I plan on getting it redone sometime because I miss having them both.

I did, however, change the jewelry after a month (which I think was the minimum that my shop would do a change). I went into the shop I had them done in, bought myself a pair of barbells and had my piercer install them for me. Probably the best thing that I did with the piercing because they're so much more comfortable for me than rings were.

Oh yeah, I agree on the rings things. I had a ring in my bellybutton and it didn't heal straight, so I refuse to put a ring in anything but my ears. SO glad I have barbells everywhere else.

My nipples still leak lymph, but they don't hurt otherwise so I'm generally ok with that. :D They're some of the most finicky and difficult things, I believe.

ohh yeah, I figured that much about the nipples and I don't plan on touching them at all until he says it's ok. they were just so sore from the beginning that we couldn't have even had sex because he was afraid of anything even brushing up against them. so when he gets back in 2 weeks I'm just hoping to be able to have sex as long as we don't touch them at all.

i had a vertical hood piercing for a few years....it stung for a second..only while being pierced. I left it along for a week or so and then started up the fun again. There wasn't any care except to leave it alone at first. ...It didn't change sex for me...*shrugs* but it was pretty. I took it out a few months ago..not sure why..just bored of it.

I was looking on about.com for some answers, and it says 4-6 weeks healing time for a Vertical Hood piercing.

And while I've never had anything other than my tongue pierced, i'd definitely recommend waiting until it really is healed before having sex, because of the bacteria that can be introduced to the area. Infections down there would not be good!

I like the way vertical looks 'cause it aligns itself more neatly with the general anatomy of the clitoris/vulva. Mine also never gets irritated unless I bump it against my conveniently-low-enough-to-be-aligned-with-my-crotch sink or wear really tight uncomfortable pants.

Most of the "pain" associated with getting it done was from discomfort. The receiving tube and the actual piercing part hurt/stung, but once the whole thing was over I was fine. The skin around the piercing was a little tender for a few days afterwards, and it hurt any time I bumped it on something, otherwise it was fine. Sensation-wise, it didn't make me immediately OMGSUPERSENSITIVE, but masturbation certainly feels "different." I don't have any pre-piercing sex experience to compare :D

For healing time, my piercer told me 3-4 weeks, but it healed up good and proper in just a little over two. As long as you keep it clean, it has few complications (I kept a sea salt solution handy to wash the piercing with after going to the bathroom, after showering, or before going to bed).

i have a vertical, and it hurt a FUCKTON. it was the most painful piercing i have ever gotten. more painful than my industrial piercing. ALTHOUGH i do have an extremely thick hood, so chances are you won't feel a lot of pain. as soon as it was over, it didn't hurt at all. i was just hyper-aware of my crotch at all times, lol. it was completely healed in about two weeks. as long as you keep it clean (i used the litha method, because the vagina is self-cleaning, and it worked very well.) easiest piercing to heal, in my opinion.
honestly i don't notice much in the way of stimulation unless the barbell itself is actually being pulled on. THAT is a nice feeling, but it's not like i spontaneously orgasm while walking.
acerzen 8th-Sep-2008 07:36 am (UTC)
mine was excruciating, and I have a thin small hood. I felt like I screamed for a good long time, but apparently it was only a few seconds.

I just used a sea salt and water wash two or three times a day (I'd make the solution then pour it in a shot glass and hold that over my clit for a few seconds to soak then just pour the rest over)

I got my VCH piercing done about five weeks ago now and love it. Stung a little with the actual piercing and I did have a small dribble of blood from it (so take a pantyliner or pad with you).
Started playing with it about 10 days after. Am yet to have sex with it in, but definitely improved sensation for me during masturbation. Though I'm thinking I might change the jewellery from a ring to a banana bar or barbell, purely because the ring protrudes a little too much for my liking and can get irritated if I wear tight jeans.
As far as after care went, I just washed down there as normal and paid a little more attention to it for the first week and I was fine. In fact, healed nicely and didn't get infected.

I've had a vertical clitoral hood piercing for about 5 years. The piercing was a breeze, only stung for a second and healed up within a fortnight. My piercer advised me to take showers instead of baths until it healed up, otherwise i just left it alone.

For myself, the piercing provides a lot of stimulation during sex. It's much easier to achieve orgasm now and if I angle myself just right I get clitoral stimulation in almost any sexual position. Works for me! :)

bodymods, and read the memories.

From what I've heard, you should wait a minimum of 6 weeks before getting it on. It's EXTREMELY detrimental to the piercing to have sex before then.

I've had several piercings, one being the VCH. That was the easiest piercing I've ever had. It hurt a bit when I got it done (I haven't flinched at a piercing yet, except the IUD "interior piercing" - go figure) but it healed in a week-week 1/2. I loved it, sadly the boyfriend didn't. He loved the way it looked but it would scratch the hell out of him during sex and made him look like he was in a cat fight. Very sad b/c it was awesome to go jogging with it! :) Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

Mine hurt a bit getting done, but it was fine most of that day at work. I did find that sitting down and leaning forward was very uncomfortable for the first several days. After a week I felt fine though. Started playing with it myself after 2 weeks and it was fine, but orgasms were definitely different. I don't find it makes a difference during sex, but I have medication issues right now that is interfering with sexual pleasure.

Also, I was having discomfort after about 3 months which persisted for a month or so. I attributed it to how I sit for work (I'm a nail tech) but the piercing has migrated a bit and has been totally fine since then.

As for my boyfriend, he only knew me with it and it doesn't bother him, but he has had to "learn how it works" a bit.

I have a horizontal, because I didn't have enough of a clit hood to do a vertical. Be prepared for that possibility, your piercer has to take a look at your own personal anatomy before you can know for sure what's possible for you.

I like my piercing, and have had it for years. At first, it was annoyingly stimulating - like, I remember sitting in a movie theater watching a completely non-arousing movie (embarassingly, it was Harry Potter) and squirming with physical arousal just because the thing was healing and the blood flow to the area and ....oh dear. But once it healed, it settled down. Now I have fun with it - you can press on it during masturbation, and it's fun for my partner to play with during oral sex - but it's not arousing unless I'm trying to use it that way. My only complaint is that every now and then, tight jeans combined with certain sitting positions or bike riding or something can be a little bit uncomfortable. But it's totally managable and worth it to me.

My advice would be to wait the entire 4-6 weeks before messing with it in any way. You want it to heal nicely, and having sex while it's still fresh could be very risky.

Didn't hurt as much as my septum did, healed in about 2 weeks, usually take it out for oral because it gets in the way and is a pain in the ass.

I got mine done about 4 years ago. As for the pain, I've had cramps that were worse, but I may not be the best person to ask about pain *cough* masochist *cough*. It healed and had stretched itself to a 12 within a week.
