Late period, but not pregnant?

I posted earlier this week about a late period, possible pregnancy. Thank you to everyone who gave me advice.
I took two home pregnancy tests today (ClearBlue) and both turned up negative.
My period is three weeks late, and I've been feeling sick to my stomach for about a week and a half, along with occasional pain in my abdomen, almost like severe cramps.
My boyfriend says I should go see my doctor, and I plan on doing that, but does anyone have any idea what the problem might be?
I've heard that bad nutrition (like, not eating enough) for extended periods of time could cause your period to stop. It's summer break for me, and this causes my diet to change drastically---fast food, skipping meals, sleeping schedule is out of wack. Could all that have anything to do with it?
I should have gotten my period around July 20th. So it's been about 3 weeks.
Any ideas? I'd like to have some sort of an idea before I go to my doctor.

Just the major lifestyle change alone -- change in eating and sleeping habits -- can do some seriously screwy things to a cycle sometimes.

For instance, I just started my period yesterday... 50 days after my last period. I'm usually on a fairly regular 26-30 day cycle, so I was just over three weeks late.

No particular reason for it, and in my opinion on a one-off like this, no reason to see a doctor. I just chalk it up to one of those wacky things that happens to periods sometimes. And if you're quite suddenly moving to different eating or sleeping habits, that too can have a big effect.

My main worry was the horrible cramp-feelings, and the constant feeling of being sick to my stomach. Like, my diet and sleeping changes every summer, because of the lack of any real schedule. I've never felt like this before, which is why I've gotten worried. I hope you're right though. Thanks!

With the pain and illness and need-to-pee feelings, I'd at least call your doctor. She might want to rule out PID or an ovarian cyst. I had those symptoms with the cysts I had as a teen, before I started the pill.

Thanks. I do intend on calling my doctor, I just wasn't sure what these symptoms could mean. Ovarian cysts...I think my mother had those at some point, so that could be possible. TY

It's possible that your lifestyle change is causing it. If you're not sleeping or eating normally then that can mess with your system and thus cause your girly bits to behave badly. =)

Also, if you're under stress, that can cause your period to be late.

Talk to your doc about it. He/She can probably give you the low-down on what's happening =)

I'm hoping that it's just the lifestyle changes. I haven't been too stressed lately. It's summer, and it's been pretty relaxed, up until all of this. So hopefully if I can get my habits and stuff back on some sort of schedule, my body will feel better. I just hope it's not anything serious.

It is possible that you are pregnant, regardless of negative pregnancy tests. A friend of mine didn't test positive for pregnancy until she was 8-10 weeks.

Well, i haven't had my period since June 22nd, so I would be at about 7 weeks right now.
I intend on going to my doctor regardless, so if i am, I'll find out then, i suppose. Thank you though, I'll make sure to take another one in a few days. :-)

that sort of happened to me once. i used to get my period at the end of the month and one month...maybe november.....I was waiting for my period, and it didn't come. I skipped the whole month of november and i was nauseous and sick and had bad cramps and paranoid because i was seeing pregnant women everywhere -_- so I went and bought a pregnancy test and it was negative but i was still nervous and then next month I got my period at the beginning of the month so now my cycle happens at the beginning of each month instead of the end. but I hope everything's fine when you go to see the doctor, best of luck...

Thank you.
I'm deff hoping that it's just something like that, some weird occurrence in my usual cycle. I had less bad cramps today, and didn't feel nauseous at all, which i am taking as a good sign. So I'm hoping I won't end up needing to see my doctor afterall. Thanks a lot! :-)
