Torn clit again :(

I posted earlier today about how my clit got ripped during sex :( I went to the doctor and she said that it's only a small cut and that i won't need stitches unless the bleeding won't stop on it's own. At the time I was just relieved but now I'm thinking about what I saw when I investigated it and it honestly looked worse than a little cut (it literally looked like a split from the middle down). Is it possible that it just looked deeper than it was for me? Ít's still bleeding a tiny bit and I have no idea if I have to go to the gyno at the hospital for a stitch :( Does anyone know how deep it can be before it needs stitches (especially seeing as it kind of hides away under the clitoral hood most of the time so is kind of squished together anyway...I really have to tell my mum tonight if I have to go the hospital tomorrow :(

How is this comment helpful to the OP?

OP - I'm not sure what advice to give you, unfortunately. Maybe you should give yourself a time period to relax and see what happens and then if it's still bleeding and bothering you, you can go to the hospital. "One rule of thumb is that stitches are needed when edges of skin do not fall together, the laceration involves the face, or when any wound is over 1/2 inch long." (From my First Aid certification class)

Stitches should usually be placed within the first few hours after the injury, but you could still get some if you're worried. If it were me, I would leave it alone unless it keeps bleeding for this whole day. Genital tissues heal really easily and fast, and I hope this is the case for you today. :) Good luck!

I'm in the second day today and it's still bleeding but only a tiny bit compared to what it was and it seems only start after I pee. I'm just worried that it'll heal funny/will get infected or something if I don't get stitches (that said though I really don't want to have to tell my my mum - even though I'm 20!- but I don't want complications more.)

I'm scared enough as it is without people saying things like this :( And according to the doctor it's more common than you think.

If it is only bleeding a tiny bit, then you probably don't need stitches. As asunlitrose said, genital tissues heal really, really fast. Random side note: genital piercings are some of the quickest healing piercings, taking about 1-2 weeks to heal. So, considering that, I'd say to wait a day or two before deciding whether or not to get stitches, as I'm sure that you probably don't want to go through the agony of getting stitches in your clit. *shudder*

I'm going to third this, genital tissue does heal amazingly fast. I had a clitoral hood piercing, when I got it, it was all healed up in a week. Then I took it out for a day and that was the end of that piercing.

i'be been leaning toward getting one of those for over a year now.How bad would you say it is to get?
cheeseydreams 20th-Feb-2008 03:29 pm (UTC)
The way it was described to me, which I thought was very applicable after the fact, is that it is comparable to getting an ear piercing. Essentially all that is getting pierced is a thin piece of flesh. So I say go for it! I want to get it re-pierced, but my piercer moved out of town and I don't really trust anyone else with my girly bits.
vivid_prodigy 20th-Feb-2008 04:11 pm (UTC)
It doesn't hurt that bad. In fact, I'd say the cartilage piercing I got in my ear hurt worse. And the piercing heals wicked fast.
asunlitrose 20th-Feb-2008 05:04 pm (UTC)
Agreed. My cartilage piercings (rook and tragus) hurt way more than my HCH. It still hurt but it was more of a shocking kind of pain, rather than actual pain, if that makes sense. And it healed super duper fast.
preciouslilme 20th-Feb-2008 09:57 pm (UTC)
No I don't, at all, but I figure stitches would be better than it healing funny or any other complications :(

like i said yesterday, tears/rips down there always seem bigger than they are. Just leave it alone a few days, and t will start healing. If its gushing blood, or tears further, then sure get checked again for stitches, but expect it to ooze for a few days otherwise. Women get tears and rips all the time in labor that do not require stitches. The tears that are "rips" heal faster than you would think.

Thankyou :)

I really think you're fine - as long as it isn't bleeding and bleeding (meaning it doesn't stop. It may bleed off and on, because as you move around you might yank it open by accident, but if it's not bleeding continuously I think you're ok) you should be fine.

I know it's kind of a scary thing, but if I were you, I'd just try to forget about it. It will heal, and probably quite quickly.
preciouslilme 20th-Feb-2008 10:00 pm (UTC)
Thanks :) I've been keeping an eye on it and it looks like it only starts bleeding after I pee so I hope it will be okay. This whole thing has been absolutely terrifying.
atalanta0jess 20th-Feb-2008 10:47 pm (UTC)
Hm...maybe you could try what someone else suggested (I've forgotten who by now) and put a dab of vaseline or diaper ointment on it...that might help keep the pee from reopening the wound or whatever.

I do have to wonder exactly how someone can rip their clit. :) Joking aside, everyone else has great advice. I'm just going to throw in the idea of making sure to wear comfy comfy underwear, preferably 100% cotton, and don't wear any tight pants for a few days until it can heal properly.
asunlitrose 20th-Feb-2008 09:43 pm (UTC)
No need to wonder, the OP originally posted her problem seven posts down from this one. ;)

Whoops, must've missed that one!

I think this has happened to me too... Im only 19 so im also really very freaked out! The guy was a bit rough with it and it was really REALLY sore where the 2 labia menora meet to form the clit. Its so painful it even hurts to cross my legs or even close them for that matter. Mine hasn't bled though but it's still unbareably painfull! :(
Please let me know how yours healed and what you did to help because it would be really help calm me down!
Thanks

Mine healed in about a week though it sounds like yours will heal faster seeing as you didn't draw blood :) The only thing that can really help with the pain is putting Vasline on it before you go to the toilet as far as I know. Maybe take an aspirin? It should heal soon though!
holly606 how did it heal14th-Jan-2010 03:19 am (UTC)

lionlio 22nd-Jul-2010 05:04 pm (UTC)
same thing happened to me. day 4 now. it doesn't look like a surface rip. Literally looks like my labia are meeting in the middle of my clits. it looks so deep. how long does it take to heal?
