salt for baths

Can you use regular table salt for a bath, the iodized stuff? Or should it be sea salt, or epsom salt? The reason I'm asking it, I have a lump, like a cystic pimple, on my outer labia. I'm pretty sure it's popped and it bled a bit and some fluid came out. I want it to heal quickly, because I'm terrified of infections and the like. The only think I have handy is some table salt, although I think I may have epsom. Which is better to use?

i'm going to vote for sea salts or epsom when you're talking about sitting in a whole bath, but i am no expert. as far as i know regular table salt does not have the same type of healing properties as the others and will likely dry your skin out.

however i have used regular table salt + warm water soaks on localized areas when i needed to, as in to draw gunk out of a sore. but when i've done this it's just with a small amount, and not a whole bath.

hopefully someone else will have more info! i don't want to steer you the wrong way.

I've been taking epsom salt sitz baths since my vulvar surgery 2 weeks ago. It's really taken the swelling down, and seems to help with the pain better than plain water alone.

I'd use natural options rather than table salt, personally. :)

If you can, I'd get sea salt or use the epsom. But when I got my wisdom teeth out, I was told to gargle with salt water and to use table salt to make it, so I'm sure it'd be fine to use that if you rinsed afterward.

But hey, your vulva is a self-healin' machine. Don't stress too much about infections. Just keep it as dry as you can (so carry around extra panties if your weather's hot) and let it air at night.

Won't baking soda mess up the pH of one's vagina?

your body will do a fine job of healing it on its own as long as you don't mess with it or rub your hoohaa on a subway railing. Just wash it daily, and you'll be good.

no salts nessesary, better to leave well enough alone.

I have only ever sat in plain water or epsom salt.
I never sat in the epsom salt for a vulvar problem though. Only if I was having a bodyache.
Table salt is okay for an oral rinse though. Based on personal experience.
But I wouldn't use it on my snatch.
