Swollen Uterus, Excessive, Bright Red Bleeding.

Have any of you ever been told by your gyno that your uterus is swollen? I have a trans vag u/s set up for Wednesday after my gyno did a pap on Thursday and said my uterus was swollen. No real explaination as to why, just that he wanted me to have a u/s. Along with this, I started my period Saturday night, and last night bled out 2oz of bright red blood with some large clots in an hour (I use a cup, so I am aware of how much I am bleeding) and then things returned to "normal" after that hour and all day today, but now, around the same time, its happening again, but this time I lost an entire oz in 5 mintues and I am back to the bright red blood. I'm starting feel a bit concerned, as bright red watery blood with giant clots is not in the norm for me, along with the fact that I have lost about 5 oz total in the past 48 hours and thats usualy what I lose in a complete 6 day cycle. I did speak with a nurse this morning, and she told me to take it easy-I did as much as one can with a toddler, and I did take an iron pill this morning because I was feeling a bit woozy, but other than that I am actually at a loss with all of this...

Has any one been through this, have any advice/information they could share about either the swollen uterus or the bleeding or both? The nurse said that the bleeding is most likely due to the swollen uterus, but seriously, do I have a small weasle in there that gets excited at night and decides to tear it up on the dance floor to some Arctic Monkeys? Thats what it feels like!

TIA.

When my gyno thought my uterus might be enlarged (which he found by doing a bimanual exam) it turned out to be a large ovarian cyst, which they confirmed through a trans-vaginal/standard ultrasound.
Good luck, I hope everything works out okay.

Any possibility of a m/c?

ty, I'm pretty sure not, my husband had a vasectomy two years ago. Plus there is very little cramping, just tons of blood. I remember lots of cramping with previous m/c's.

What happened with this? Did you get an answer? I've been bleeding for 3 months, and the gyno told me my uterus is swollen and has scheduled blood work ( tomorrow ) and an ultra sound ( 2 weeks ).

She didn't want me to worry, so she said we'd talk after the tests...but I'm getting worried...

They never figured it out. Went it, I had the u/s and after some jiggling around they found "perfect ovaries" and the uterus was fine. I wish you lots of luck, try not to worry.

They did the ultrasound: I have adenomyosis...she wants to schedule a hysterectomy ASAP.

Thanks!

Wow. How do you feel about that? Good luck to you, I'm glad you got a diagnosis!

I'm having a similar problem, which all started with a yeast infection. I had bright red bleeding the week before my period. I've been bleeding most days for mast 2 months so I saw my Dr. He switched my birth control pills and wants to see me again in 2 months if it is not better. Now I feel like my uterus is swollen inside. Bleeding STILL! Is it because I use a tampon almost every day (I hate pads). Something just doesn't seem normal.

I can tell me iron is low because I'm always tired and bruise easily. I just started taking a multi-vitamin. HELP!
